About Us

JC Warman has been in the food business for 35 years. After working and managing stores for thirteen years for 2 major national food corporations, he and his wife Suzy ventured out on their own and in 1983 started Slight Indulgence, a gourmet food and wine store on High Street. With his entrepreneurial dreams and his extensive food background, a gourmet food and wine store was a natural progression.

The Warmans joined the National Association of Specialty Food Trade Buyer’s Circle in 1999. The Association recognized Mr. Warman’s wisdom of the food industry and appointed him to numerous national committees including the Admission Committee, where he was judged the companies showing their products at the International Fancy Food and Confection Show in New York. In May of 2000, he became the first and only West Virginian to sit on NASFT Judge’s Panel, where he helped select the best food in the gourmet industry.

The Warman’s love of wine has taken them all over the country and to Europe, where they has met and tasted with some of the most knowledgeable and influential people in the wine business including Clive Coates, Tim Mondavi, Robert Parker and Jeanne Marie de Champs from Burgundy, France. Slight Indulgence has also hosted wine makers and importers from all over the world who have brought their wines in for JC & Suzy to taste. Since their entry into the gourmet food industry the Warmans have developed an impressive network of friends and colleagues that keep them and Slight Indulgence on the cutting edge of specialty foods and wines. JC has also become a consultant for new stores in other states needing advice on food products and business plans.

Slight Indulgence is also the only gourmet shop from West Virginia to be showcased in the Specialty Food Magazine, a prestigious food industry magazine with worldwide distribution.

The Warmans have 2 locations in Morgantown, their downtown store at 407 High Street and in Suncrest at 3200 Collins Ferry Road. Daughters, Jessica and Janna, manage the High Street location with an emphasis towards the student population of West Virginia University. JC and Suzy are at the Suncrest store where they enjoy planning wine classes and menus for the café.
